NC Error Code

This error code will flash on your dashboard for 15 seconds when something goes wrong with your RV brake controller. Neglecting to pay attention to this error code could cause you to lose your entire trailer by driving off with a disconnection.

There are multiple reasons why the NC error code flashes on your RV dashboard when using the Prodigy P2 brake controller.

What Does This Code Mean?

There are four reasons that this error code could flash on your Prodigy P2 brake controller dashboard. For example, when you disconnect your trailer from your tow vehicle, your brake controller dash will flash to alert you that there’s no connection.

This error code is to help you avoid driving away from your trailer without your knowledge.

If your trailer is connected to your tow vehicle, your dashboard could flash with this error due to an open circuit on your brake line. You’ll need to check your wires to ensure everything’s connected properly before you drive off.

Sometimes, this error code will flash due to natural corrosion that disconnects your trailer from your tow vehicle.

Finally, the NC error code can flash on your dashboard due to the trailer brake magnet ground disconnecting or getting lost.

Resolution

The first thing you should do when the NC error code flashes on your dash is to ensure that your trailer is connected. If your trailer is connected, you should check your wiring for any damage.

Damage wiring can cause a faulty NC error code that won’t disappear until the problem is resolved. Check for any corrosion and replace these parts as soon as possible after you ensure your trailer is connected.

You don’t want to drive around with this error code because your braking system won’t work. In most states, driving a tow vehicle without a proper brake controller is illegal.

This error code flashes when the trailer remains connected, but the Prodigy P2 brake controller loses battery ground connection.

The only difference between this error code and the previous one is that your trailer is definitely connected when this error code goes off. You’ll see a 09 error code flash on your display twice every second.

Hopefully, you have a wireless cell phone connection when this error code goes off because you’ll need to make a phone call. You’ll see this error code flash on your display steadily until you resolve the problem.

  1. Re: Prodigy P2
    To whom it may concern,
    Hello,
Question: Is it possible that the Prodigy P2 would be causing my (Engine) service light to come on randomly??
I bought a 2018 Chevy Colorado with a Prodigy P2 already installed. I have not installed a trailer to date since I bought the truck. After buying it I took the truck to the dealer (3) times, and (2) times to a certified service shop with no definitive answer. The only modification on the truck is the Prodigy P2. Any Help, please. Thank you.
