Water planning: The calculator treats serving size as drinkable tea after steeping. It adds leaf absorption, transfer loss, and buffer to estimate how much water should be in the kettle or bottle before you start pouring.
Strong tea and dilution: For iced tea, milk tea, or chai concentrate, increase grams per 100 ml and enter the expected ice or milk dilution. That keeps final cup volume steady without over-watering the steep.

It’s happened to all of us at one time or another: you poured scalding-hot water on your leaves, waited a while, and then drank the resulting brew, which tasted as if you’d boiled grass. It wasn’t the tea that was at fault (though I do admit it can be). The culprit is this.
