Use the first-application number as the no-compromise dose. Put that amount on before the activity starts, then use the reapplication count for the rest of the trip. SPF changes label performance, but it does not shrink the film thickness needed.
Count product loss honestly for outdoor use. Lotion waste is small, but continuous sprays lose volume to wind and distance. If spraying outside, apply close to skin, rub it in, and keep the spray away from eyes and open flame.
