Most camping enthusiasts own motorhomes and recreation vehicles because of all the features that these come with. This includes having access to lots of storage that you can keep all your equipment in. Additionally, you can even use electrical appliances while you are traveling. Although, you should keep in mind that the overall power available in these vehicles is limited.

This is why you have to make sure that your motorhome’s batteries do not run out. Talking about this, one solution that you can go for is installing a generator in your vehicle. The Predator 3500 is one of the most famous models that you can get. Although, keep in mind that some problems can be found on this device. This is why we will be using this article to provide you with a list of issues that you can get on the Predator 3500 generator along with troubleshooting steps to fix them.

Predator 3500 Generator Problems Troubleshooting

1. Generator Keeps Shutting Down

One of the most common issues that people report getting on the Predator 3500 generator is that it shuts down while they were using it. This can be quite annoying to deal with but you should note that several things can cause this issue on your device. Considering this, you must look into all of these steps to ensure your problem is fixed.

The first thing that you can look out for is the coolant levels on your device. The coolant tank should always be kept full as this running low can cause your generator to overheat. If you continue using the device like this then there is a high chance that it will get damaged. Aside from this, the second thing that you will have to look out for is your generator being overloaded.

The Predator 3500 is designed for smaller motorhomes and it cannot handle a lot of loads. Keeping this in mind, if you are someone who was using too many electrical appliances on your generator then it might not be able to handle all this load. Simply switching off some of these devices should help you in fixing the problem.

2. Generator Overheating

Another issue that many people complain about on their generator is that it is overheating. Some of the fixes that can be used for this problem are the same steps mentioned above. Although, if these do not work for you. Then there is a high chance that you have your generator installed in a corner of your motorhome. Keep in mind that these devices require you to install these in a ventilated area.

This way the air circulating the generator will prevent it from overheating. But if there is no place like this available in your vehicle then one recommendation is that you install a fan nearby your device. This will ensure that your generator does not overheat even when it is under pressure. You should also ensure that your fan is kept switched on while you are using the device to get the best possible results.

3. Generator Not Starting

Finally, another problem that you can run into is that your generator is not starting. The first thing that you should check in this case is your fuel tank. Make sure that this is filled up with fuel. Although, if you are still getting the same issue then there is a chance that the pipelines for your generator might be blocked. Talking about this, you should note that these devices require proper maintenance. No matter how good your generator is, if you do not keep it clean then there is a high chance that it will start running into issues.

When it comes to cleaning up your device, you have to remove the fuel and then wash the insides of your generator using special solutions. Once done, you have to ensure that these are all removed properly before you refill the tank with fuel. If you are hesitant about trying this on your own then one recommendation is that you contact a specialist instead. They will ensure that your generator is properly cleaned. Additionally, they should also check your device thoroughly so that there are no other problems with it.
