Size the queue, then the pit. A deep pit does not solve a morning line. Use the larger of the people-per-seat result and the peak-use queue result, then make the trench long enough for those seats.
Treat shallow soil as a capacity limit. If rock, roots, groundwater, or rules limit depth, increase trench length, reduce operating days, divert urine where appropriate, or plan a controlled relocation before the freeboard is used.
