Camper Slide Out is the extendable part of the campers that can be used to get some extra space. The extra space can be used whenever you are resting at some point and don’t have to move around.
Slide-out on the campers is widely being used and it can be a real issue on the camping trip if it is not working for some reason. If your camper slide-out is stuck or not working, here are a few things that you should be checking on.
How To Fix Camper Slide-Out Not Working?
1. Make Sure RV is Stopped
There is a security feature on all the RVs and Camper Vans that makes sure that the slide-out is not moving when the vehicle is moving. This is done to ensure that it doesn’t slide out accidentally while you are on the road, or if you mistakenly press the button. So, make sure that you are trying only when the RV is stopped and is parked on a flat surface. That will ensure that the security features are disengaged.
You need to go through the manual for this slide out carefully as well, as there are certain features that go in the series with slide out. Make sure if the hand brake needs to be engaged while you are trying to slide out the slider it is engaged, and if the ignition needs to be switched off, then it should be switched off.
2. Check on the Trigger
There is another possibility that the button you are using for triggering the slide-out might not be working out perfectly. There are different issues like the button might not getting current, it might not be connected to the circuit or it might have gone bad for good.
So, you will need to check on the button first and make sure that it is not only connected with the circuit properly but is also getting the right current and triggering the alert for the slide-out to be actually moving.
3. Check the Wiring
Another thing that you particularly need to check on is the wiring and you will have to ensure that all the wiring is perfectly fine. The wiring that connects your slide-out mechanism to the batteries and circuit should be working in the perfect manner and there need to be no interruptions there. Just repair the cables or replace them if they are broken and make sure that all the connections are fine.
4. Lubrication
Well, not all the parts that you will find on your slide out are electrical, but there are mechanical elements as well. You need to make sure that all these are well lubricated in order to ensure that they are not stuck somewhere and causing you to have trouble.
This can happen if you have not used the slide-out for months and those mechanical parts will be simply stuck. So, add a bit of machine oil to those mechanical parts and that will essentially be helping you get rid of the problem for good.
