Use the profile shape carefully. A route with the same total gain can feel very different when the climb is packed into one mile instead of spread over eight.
Separate moving time from elapsed time. The split table shows both pace and stop time so you can decide whether to trim breaks or adjust the turnaround.
Watch late-route climb. Canyon hikes, return climbs, and loaded backpack days deserve larger daylight buffers than the average pace suggests.
Round for trail reality. Five-minute rounding is usually more honest than exact split math when weather, footing, and group pace are changing.
