Route split: If the route has one obvious climb and one obvious descent, set the uphill and downhill shares separately instead of using a single average grade. A route with 5 miles up and 5 miles down does not feel like a flat 0% route.
Pace input: Use a recent flat moving pace from similar effort, not a race PR or a relaxed campsite stroll. The calculator is most useful when the base pace reflects the day you are planning.
