Fill by the job: A chimney can be physically full but still undersized for a windy, open, high-heat cook. This calculator increases fuel for grate area, heat level, air exposure, and longer active cooking time.
Split large loads: If the result is above 100%, light the first chimney, dump it safely, then light a second partial chimney. Overfilling above the rim can spill lit charcoal.
